With President Obama proposing to spend about $38 billion more on defense as part of the fiscal 2016 budget offered by the White House, The Deal’s Lou Whiteman explains what military defense firms stand to benefit the most and what’s in store for defense investors. Whiteman says the immediate winners will be government services firms like ManTech International and Leidos Holdings. Also, with a big focus of the budget being modernization and big equipment, Whiteman names plane-makers like Boeing and Lockheed Martin as companies that will benefit over time. Whiteman says for the first time in many years, the Pentagon is issuing a signal of growth and that it’s time to start spending. With a lot of pent-up demand in the sector for deal-making, Whiteman reveals what companies are most likely to seek deals to spur future growth.
