Donald Trump repeated his claims that Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen is playing politics by keeping interest rates low, in Monday’s first presidential debate. “I don’t agree [with Trump],” said Craig Erlam, sr. market analyst with Oanda. “I think Janet Yellen and the Fed are doing what they believe to be the correct thing. It’s a very difficult time to be a central bank right now.” Erlam agreed that not raising rates is a signal that the economy isn’t strong enough, which doesn’t help the party in power.
