Over 700 federal employees are deployed ahead of Hurricane Irma. A state of emergency has been declared by governors in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Florida. The Department of Energy has responders pre-positioned with FEMA teams in areas like Puerto Rico and St. Croix.
More than 31,000 government employees are working on Harvey recovery, that includes 4,000 FEMA staffers. Congress is working on a Harvey relief package. If it doesn’t pass, FEMA could run out of cash by Friday.
