Ford is unveiling the first-ever global RS model ahead of the start of the New York Auto Show. The new RS will be produced in the automaker’s Saarlouis, Germany plant starting late this year. The Focus RS is the fourth high-performance vehicle Ford has unveiled in the segment and plans to add 8 more performance vehicles by 2020. As for who’s buying the performance cars, Global Head of Marketing, Sales and Service Stephen Odell said, ‘In Europe we find that it skews younger, buyers have a higher education.’ Odell, who took on his new role at Ford in January said digital ad spending, which now accounts for roughly 40-percent of Ford’s marketing spend, is becoming even ‘more important when you connect, rather than interrupt, customers and people want to use what you say and actually share it with people.’ TheStreet’s Ruben Ramirez reports from New York.
