With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, consumers are expected to spend $142 on candy, flowers and clothing, up from $133 last year, with total spending to reach almost $19 billion, according to the National Retail Federation. For Edible Arrangements, which has over 1,200 locations worldwide, the Valentine’s Day season is their biggest of the year. TheStreet’s Scott Gamm speaks with the company’s founder, Tariq Farid, to discuss how important Valentine’s Day is for his business and his thoughts on the state of consumer spending, amid the precipitous drop in gasoline prices.
