Thunderbolts* is the second solid Marvel movie opening in 2025.

Marvel got a big boost at the box office thanks to a stellar opening weekend for its newest superhero movie “Thunderbolts*.” The film brought in $76 million to domestic box offices, giving it the third-highest debut of 2025. Factoring in global sales, the newest Marvel movie raked in more than $162 million.
Disney’s first Marvel movie of the year, “Captain America: Brave New World,” brought in $88.5 million during its Presidents Day weekend release.
Now while those numbers might seem like a win for Marvel, they pale in comparison to other releases. “Avengers: Endgame” brought in more than $357 million during its opening weekend, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens raked in $248 million, and Deadpool & Wolverine $211 million.
Other top performers from the weekend were the re-release of “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith” and “The Accountant 2.”
