Trading the actual VIX has never been a reality as only futures and options on the VIX can be traded. Several volatility-linked ETNs like VXX and UVXY attempt to track VIX by using futures and complex strategies, but structural limitations and costs have led to losses and frustration for many traders and investors. Jack Fonss, CEO of AccuShares, tells TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino, two news ETFs that listed on the Nasdaq market, VXUP and VXDN, are the world’s first ETFs to link directly to the VIX. Fonss reviews the construction of the ETFs, how they are different from other volatility products how close they will be to mirroring the cash spot VIX.
