Airlines Ryanair and Aer Lingus glide higher in Dublin and London, defying wider worries about Greek debt that are stifling some of the continent’s main indices. Ryanair beats full-year earnings expectations thanks to a marketing program designed to soften its image, and Aer Lingus rises on expectations the Irish government, that airline’s No. 2 shareholder behind Ryanair, will soon agree to tender its holding to a $1.5 billion bid from the parent of British Airways. In Paris state-controlled nuclear reactor maker Areva falls on expectations shareholders will be short-changed if a government-backed offer from utility EDF results in a deal.
