Crystal Moselle, director & producer of the forthcoming documentary ‘The Wolfpack,’ which is distributed by Magnolia Pictures, shares insight on how digital viewing platforms have helped independent films gain more viewership. ‘I think there is more visibility now that you can watch a film online,’ Moselle said. ‘It’s more than just Netflix (NFLX) and Amazon (AMZN). Vimeo has a great new on-demand platform for filmmakers where they can charge per screening.’ Vimeo is owned by IAC Interactive (IAC). Moselle also comments on how producing a documentary is different from a narrative film, when tends to involve higher production costs. For funding, Moselle invested some of her own money into ‘The Wolfpack,’ but declined to reveal the film’s budget. The documentary also won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
