Shares of spirits company Diageo plc soared on Monday in London on the heels of a report that billionaire Jorge Paulo Lemann and his partners at private equity firm 3G Capital are mulling a bid. According to an article last week from Brazilian publication Veja, Lemann, Marcel Telles and Beto Sicupira are considering a purchase of Diageo. The three are among the co-founders of 3G Capital and are among the board members of Anheuser-Busch InBev. A Diageo representative said the company is not commenting on the report. A representative for 3G was not immediately able to provide a comment on Monday. Diageo’s shares closed at 1,880 pence or 18.8 pounds on Monday, up 6.8%.
