The Comic Con International convention kicks off in San Diego this week, giving movie studios a chance to lure in fans of superhero movies slated to hit the box office. It will be an especially crucial time for Time Warners’ (TWX) Warner Brothers studio, whose comedy sequel ‘Magic Mike XXL’ just disappointed over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The studio, which has yet to have a runaway hit this summer, will be using Comic-Con to focus on the rest of its 2015 slate, including Guy Ritchie film ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ as well as Peter Pan tale ‘Pan.’ But its presence at Comic-Con is really about next year’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of the Justice.’ It’s set to feature the film’s cast at its presentation, including stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, but there are rumors that there could also be some surprise appearances from the cast of ‘Suicide Squad.’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year. Disney’s (DIS) Lucasfilm is already promising a Comic-Con appearance by director J.J. Abrams, producer and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan as well as some special guests — sparking rumors the film’s cast could be in attendance.
