Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ is the fastest selling album in more than a decade. The album has now surpassed 5 million in U.S. sales, according to Nielsen Music. That’s the speediest climb to 5 million since the week ending August 1st, 2004 when Usher’s ‘Confessions’ hit 5 million in its 19th week on sale. Alcoa (AA) kicked off earnings season with mixed results. The aluminum producer reported second quarter per share profit of 19 cents. Wall Street expected 22 cents a share. WD-40 (WDFC) lowered its annual guidance, pointing to the strong U.S. dollar and the conflict in the Eastern Ukraine. Revenue for the quarter came in a $92.5 million versus consensus estimate of $99.4 million. Weekly jobless claims will be released. An FDA Advisory Committee will hear arguments from Eli Lilly (LLY) on its lung cancer drug.
