Electric-vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA) is reportedly planning to start selling its Model X sport utility vehicle in China in the first half of next year. The company, which plans to begin selling the Model X in the United States during this quarter, expects to open five to six new showrooms in China by the end of the year, according to Bloomberg, which cited Tesla spokesman Gary Tao, who is based in Beijing. The new locations, which will be in cities like Beijing and Shanghai, will bring Tesla’s total to 15 showrooms in the country. Tao reportedly said the locations will be in the center of those cities in order to increase Tesla’s visibility. Tao also reportedly revealed that Tesla has tapped more than 20 local shops that will be able to provide service and bodywork repairs for its electric vehicles. The company is also said to be working to increase the number of superchargers it has in the country, where it already has more than 1,400 charging stations.
