Anthem (WLP) is buying Cigna (CI) for $54.2 billion in a cash and stock deal. The buyout is 55% cash and 45% stock. Anthem will pay $188 for each Cigna share. The combined company will serve about 53 million members. This buyout, along with others previously announced, could reshape the U.S. healthcare industry. It is still subject to regulatory approval. Starbucks (SBUX) reported a sharp jump in quarterly sales and profit driven, in part, by digital initiatives and new menu offerings. CEO Howard Schultz says growth in the company’s loyalty program continues to be an important business driver. Comcast (CMCSA) is reportedly in talks with multiple new media firms, according to the Wall Street Journal. Those companies include Buzzfeed and Vice Media.
