There’s more pressure on crude oil this morning as the price dips below $42 a barrel. Data showed that Japan’s economy contracted and producers in the United States added drilling rigs for a fourth straight week despite a recent rout in prices. The shrinkage of Japan’s economy added to fears that slowdowns in Asia will weigh on oil demand. Amazon (AMZN) CEO Jeff Bezos responded to a New York Times report slamming the company’s working conditions. The lengthy article says the online retail giant is a ‘bruising workplace’ in which employees are pushed extremely hard. Bezos says ‘that’s not the Amazon he knows’. AT&T (T) may take a blow from reports suggesting the telecommunications giant had a deep level on involvement in government surveillance programs.
