Marcela Sapone teamed up with fellow Harvard Business School graduate Jessica Beck to start Hello Alfred. Named after Batman’s trusty home helper, the modern day Alfred service is more like Siri with legs: a personal assistant that takes care of all your weekly chores. The idea is to give you back your free time. ‘We imagined this world in which perhaps the idea of having the luxury of personal help could become more accessible,’ Sapone told TheStreet. So how does it work? To start, you hand over your keys to the company, meet your Alfred and set up your payment details. You can then automate your weekly chores via the mobile app including home cleaning, laundry, and groceries. Your Alfred can tick off things like package delivery, tailoring and collecting prescriptions and there’s a chat option that lets you communicate directly or make any special requests. The Alfred service costs users $99 a month with tiered options and claims to save their users 2 to 3 hours a week. The company partners with other startups like Handy, Shyp and Instacart, as well as local businesses, to coordinate your on demand tasks.
