For the week of August 31, TheStreet highlights key earnings from major retailers, along with important reports on the economic calendar. It’s likely to be a quiet week ahead of the long three day weekend, but there’s still a lot of economic data coming out. On Tuesday, we’ll also get some numbers on the automobile industry, when auto sales are released. The Purchasing Managers’ Manufacturing Index and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing Index, along with construction spending will be out that day as well. The purchasing manager’s index will be the last key piece of data ahead of the Federal Reserve’s September meeting. We’ll also get quarterly results from discount retailer, Dollar Tree (DLTR) on Tuesday. Tax preparation company H&R Block (HRB) is out with earnings Tuesday as well. Midweek, we’ll get a reading of private sector employment from the ADP Employment Report. Productivity and labor cost numbers, the Beige Book and Factory Orders will also be released. Wednesday, Costco (COST), Five Below (FIVE), and retailer Vera Bradley (VRA) will show us how they did in their latest quarter. Thursday, we’ll get international trade, jobless claims, and the ISM Non-Manufacturing Index. Campbell Soup (CPB) and Verifone Systems (PAY) will come out with earnings that day. To end the week, Friday, we’ll get the august jobs report. TheStreet’s Valerie Young reports from New York.
