The velvet rope at banks used be to be associated with long wait times but now it may conjure up images of a cocktail lounge as banks modernize their floor plans to meet changing consumer demands. Bank of America and Chase Bank have recently added modernized ATMs to select locations that allow customers to skip the teller line when completing basic transactions. Now when customers go to a bank branch, they will be able to spend their time having their financial planning questions answered instead of waiting in line. While banks have received positive feedback for embracing technology, they acknowledge that finding the right balance of digital ease and personalized service.
