Zhu Ye, the Chinese businessman who bid $2.35 million to dine with investor Warren Buffett, said his lunch was ‘absolutely’ worth it. Zhu broke bread and ate steak with Buffet at Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York Tuesday, after submitting the winning bid in an auction that benefits San Francisco-based Glide Foundation. Zhu said he decided to pay millions to share lunch with Buffett, a man he admires, because learning just a few things from the billionaire would make him more successful. Zhu, who also goes by the name Andy, emerged from the restaurant wearing a big smile. He said he had a very nice lunch with Buffett, and the two discussed education and investment philosophies. ‘It’s easy to understand those philosophies, but difficult to execute,’ explained Zhu, through an interpreter, who also attended the lunch. He also got a few tips from the billionaire Buffett, who shared with Zhu one of his favorite investing ideas. ‘The best tip was to focus on the things you really like and really understand, and don’t just buy stocks you don’t understand,’ said Zhu. While the two didn’t discuss specific stocks, Zhu said he walked away from the lunch with a decision to invest in Chinese company stocks that are listed in the U.S.
