Google (GOOG) is proving itself to be an expert not just on big data gathering but also at predicting TV trends. The search giant was able to foreshadow the top rated returning shows for the fall based on most searched queries. Fox’s (FOX) ‘Empire’ was the most Googled return show over the past week. The latest season debuted to 16.2 million viewers on Wednesday, with a viewership second only to last season’s finale. The two top returning shows, ‘NCIS’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ both from CBS (CBS) were also featured in the top ten most searched for fall premieres on Google. Over the past month the most searched for TV programs over all were HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’, Comedy Central’s ‘South Park’ and ABC’s (DIS) ‘Dancing With the Stars’.
