From student loans to the flat tax to Hillary Clinton’s ‘worst nightmare’ and the ‘media elite’ made for a GOP presidential debate that was more combative than any so far this year. Senator Marco Rubio responded to a question on paying student loans early in his marriage, ‘try early in my marriage explaining to my wife, why someone named Sallie Mae was taking $1,000 out of our account every month.’ TheStreet’s Jim Cramer asked New Jersey Governor Chris Christie if the people responsible for GM’s ignition switch defect should be behind bars. Christie responded, ‘you bet they should.’ Donald Trump was asked by the moderator if he’d feel more comfortable if his employees carried guns to work. Trump replied, ‘Yes. I might feel more comfortable.’ One light moment of the evening was when Florida Governor Jeb Bush offered a ‘warm kiss’ to any democrat willing to cut spending by ten dollars. Former HP CEO Carly Fiorina ended her remarks by saying she would be ‘Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare’ and went on to say, ‘in your heart of hearts, you cannot wait to see a debate between Hillary Clinton and Carly Fiorina.’
