Elisabeth DeMarse, the President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TheStreet discussed the importance of diversifying the business during this year’s Deal Economy event in New York. TheStreet acquired The Deal three years ago to help expand its revenue stream. TheStreet also bought BoardEx last year. DeMarse said the two companies now account for 45 percent of TheStreet’s revenue. ‘We’re much more diversified away from the volatile, uncertain, shifting sands of advertising,’ said DeMarse, who added the company now has higher visibility and a strong business selling data to investment banks, advisory firms and law firms. DeMarse also spoke about synergies created on the content side from the acquisitions.
