Since 1992, over 2,000 journalists have been killed worldwide, including 66 in 2022. In the wake of a shooting in Orlando that killed a local reporter and injured a photographer, the President of the Committee to Protect Journalists said journalists are becoming increasingly “under threat in countries” that are not in conflict or war.
