When the pundits were writing Donald Trump off last summer, John Mappin was placing his bets, suspecting something was going on in America most were overlooking. Since that time, the 51-year-old British media and technology investor who owns and lives at Camelot Castle, a hotel in Cornwall, U.K., has made a serious of wagers on the boisterous billionaire winning the Republican nomination and U.S. presidential election. Should Trump come out ahead in November, Mapping will rake in upwards of $100,000. Not only does Mappin believe Trump will win the White House — he also thinks he should. Mappin is a vocal Trump supporter, citing his business experience as having equipped him to handle America’s debt and his dedication to veterans a ‘very noble deed.’ In fact, he has gone so far as to knight him. We spoke with Mappin about what he saw in Trump that led him to put his money where his mouth was when others didn’t.
