President Obama is scheduled to visit Cuba in just a few weeks, but before the world’s attention turns to the island nation, there are two creative ways investors who believe in the country’s growth prospects can invest there. The Herzfeld Caribbean Basin Fund (CUBA), or The CUBA Fund, trades on Nasdaq. It is a small cap fund with about $40 million and is made up of about 60 securities, according to TheStreet Contributor Kabir Sehgal. Another option is a company that trades in Canada called Sherritt International. It’s also a small-cap name ($275M market cap) that derives 75% of its income from Cuba. Sherritt has a joint venture agreement with the Cuban government to mine cobalt and nickel. Sehgal said Cuba’s population of 11 million people and growing GDP make it an attractive place to invest.
