In a win for General Electric , Federal regulators stripped the industrials giant of its designation as a systemically important financial institution, or SIFI, on Wednesday. Ron Orol, senior editor with The Deal, said the development means GE will no longer have to maintain steep capital requirements, participate in Fed stress tests or living wills. The move comes on the heels of GE spinning off its GE Capital business in an effort to focus the company on its industrials roots. TheStreet’s Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.
