If you’re going to take a private jet then you might as well drive to the airport in a Porsche. Right? Delta Private Jets announced today its plan to team up with Porsche to enhance the experience of customers as they travel the globe. Delta Private Jets card members in select markets will be picked up in a Porsche from the fixed-base operator and transported to the main airport where they will be escorted and expedited through security by Delta agents to their connecting flight along with their luggage. ‘We are really trying to raise the bar on the private jet side while still connecting to the global airline,’ said David Sneed, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Delta Private Jets. Private-to-commercial transfer services will be available for Delta Private Jets Card members in key Delta Air Lines North America hubs and markets in Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, New York and Seattle, as well as Greater Cincinnati, which has been Delta Private Jets’ home base for more than 30 years. Delta Private Jets, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines DAL, is the only private jet company affiliated with a major commercial airline. With more than 70 WI-FI equipped aircraft in the fleet – light, mid-size, super-midsize and large – Delta Private Jets has continuously held the coveted ARGUS Platinum safety rating longer than any other operator in the world. ‘When you are plugged into Delta and the capability to transfer seamlessly at Delta and to the private jets you are also transferring seamlessly into the global travel network which includes SkyTeam and all those partners, as well as Virgin Atlantic, Gol Airlines, China Eastern and others,’ said Sneed. And while it is difficult to prove a direct link between the health of Wall Street and the private jet industry, Sneed said rising markets have traditionally means more lift-offs for private jets. ‘Energy prices are still low and that plays into our strong demand and performance as well,’ said Sneed.
