Retail sales numbers in August were disappointing, but Jim Cramer says the figures may not accurately capture spending, especially from people who were shopping on Amazon . Cramer says, “It was bad. No one has been able to pinpoint what happened in August and I think that’s very worrisome.” Cramer says some reasons for the dismal numbers could have been calendar shifts in back to school and the fact that shoppers may have stayed home in August and spent their time shopping on Amazon instead.
