Here’s a double-double portion of good news — Los Angeles appears to be getting a new In-N-Out location.
Public filings reveal that the beloved SoCal burger brand is plotting a new drive-thru store in Sherman Oaks — just off the 405 Freeway.
The family-owned fast food giant’s proposal calls for the demolition of existing buildings at 5601–5627 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, at the corner of Burbank Boulevard — and the construction of a 2,291 square-foot restaurant.
The planned new spot appears to be designed like many of the older locations — focused on drive-thru traffic, with the addition of a walk-up window and a covered outdoor dining area with seating for 64 people and 63 parking spaces, including 3 accessible spaces and 14 spaces for electric vehicles.
Documents revealed the operating hours for the business would be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The yet-to-be-approved permit for the location was filed on October 2 — and has yet to be rubber-stamped.
The proposed location is currently the site of a two-story commercial development that houses a jewelry store, law office, general contractor office and a Kabbalah study center.
In-N-Out already has a Sherman Oaks location at 4444 Van Nuys Blvd, about 2.5 miles from the proposed location.
The new address is just north of one of LA’s most notorious freeway intersections, where the 405 meets the 101.
Elsewhere in the San Fernando Valley, the chain is constructing a new location in Woodland Hills — and opened new locations in Sylmar and Monrovia last year. Locations in Chino, Commerce, and South El Monte are opening soon, according to In-N-Out’s website.
Meanwhile, out in Palm Springs, the chain is locked in a battle with the desert city’s strict Architectural Review Committee over a planned restaurant’s design.
Founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park by Harry and Esther Snyder, the beloved burger chain now has over 400 locations across 10 U.S. states.
In a recent interview, In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder cleared up rumors that the chain is planning to ditch the state.
Snyder also teased possible expansion to new states: Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma.
“Though I think there’s a lot of states that really want us there, it’s not really in the works and not planned,” Snyder said of any further moves. “I feel like there’s a special peace knowing that In-N-Out isn’t everywhere.”
