Business-hating Democrats poised to haul execs before Congress if they win control of House

Corporate America’s biggest names could be hauled before Congress if Democrats seize control of the House in November’s midterm elections — with companies including Amazon, Apple and Nvidia already receiving investigative letters from lawmakers.

The potential targets range from tech giants and Wall Street firms to airlines, healthcare companies and corporate landlords, as Democrats prepare to scrutinize businesses over their ties to President Trump and practices affecting the cost of living, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Top House Dem Hakeem Jeffries, who’s poised to become speaker if Democrats win control of the chamber, has already been pounding the drum.

“There’s a cost to the American people of the out-of-control corruption that has been visited upon them by Donald Trump and MAGA extremists,” the Brooklyn lefty said over the summer.

“We’re going to hold the crooks accountable beginning on Day One.”

Amazon, Apple, Comcast, Meta, Microsoft and Nvidia have already received letters from Democratic lawmakers demanding information about their donations to Trump’s White House ballroom project, Bloomberg reported.

Democrats are expected to examine whether companies that financially supported Trump’s projects obtained preferential treatment from the administration, as well as deals involving tariff exemptions, drug prices and government equity stakes.

Walmart, Target, Nike and Energizer Holdings have been pressed about tariff refunds, as have Amazon, Apple and Motorola.

Other inquiries have focused on surveillance pricing at airlines including Delta, United and American.

“There is no fare product Delta has ever used, is testing or plans to use that targets customers with individualized offers based on personal information or otherwise,” a Delta spokesperson told The Post.

“A variety of market forces drive the dynamic pricing model that’s been used in the global industry for decades, with new tech simply streamlining this process,” the flack added. “Delta always complies with regulations around pricing and disclosures.”

Democrats’ inquiries have also extended to data center investments involving Blackstone, KKR, BlackRock and Brookfield Infrastructure Partners, as well as rent costs at corporate-owned properties.

Y. David Scharf, chairman of Manhattan-based law firm Morrison Cohen and head of its government strategies and controversies practice, said companies have already sought his firm’s advice on potential congressional investigations.

“This is part of our practice, and we have clients that we are advising on,” he told The Post.

The consequences for companies that are called to testify before Congress could extend well beyond embarrassing headlines, Scharf warned.

“We’ve seen oversight and congressional investigations turn into referrals and criminal referrals. We’ve seen them turn into class action lawsuits,” he said.

“It’s more than public relations. Certainly, on the public relations side of things, you only need to look bad for 10 seconds on TikTok,” Scharf added.

Dems are widely expected to take the House, with the Cook Political Report predicting a net gain five-to-15 seats. The razor-thin margin in the Senate will come down to a handful of contests, observers say.

Some of the nation’s biggest companies aren’t waiting until Election Day to prepare for a possible Democratic takeover, hiring politically connected advisers and weighing how to respond to congressional investigations.

Meta and Palantir have reportedly discussed how to respond to potential congressional hearings and demands for internal records as they prepare for an anticipated blue wave in November.

Skydance, the media goliath born out of the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, has hired former Democratic aides to bolster their Washington representation — as has prediction market operator Kalshi.

Kalshi faces legal challenges from regulators in numerous states over its sports-related prediction markets and recently hired former FBI agent Sean Fern to lead its anti-money laundering efforts, NPR reported.

Walmart, Target and Verizon are also reportedly among companies backing a six-figure lobbying and advertising campaign aimed at protecting the 21% federal corporate income-tax rate against potential changes in Washington.

Private companies could prove particularly vulnerable because they lack some of the legal privileges available to White House officials seeking to resist congressional investigations, Bloomberg noted.

Businesses also risk alienating customers and shareholders if they refuse to cooperate, the article said.

Spokespersons for KKR, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon declined comment when reached by The Post.

The Post has sought comment from Jeffries and the White House.
