25 years ago, Tom Brokaw delivered an NBC News Special Report on September 11, 2001, after terrorists hijacked four commercial planes and carried out coordinated attacks against targets in the U.S. Two were flown into the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon, and one – after the passengers and crew fought back – crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people.
