Yum Brands has big plans to grow the China unit it’s spinning off. The US fast-food giant has 7,300 restaurants right now. But that number could roughly triple to north of 20,000 based on long term ambitions. This is what Yum! Brands executives shared at the company’s investor day. The chain known for its KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands plans to spin off the China business October 31st. When its spinoff is completed Yum! China will hold exclusive rights to use the aforementioned brand names with China paying a three percent licensing fee for related sales. And it will have the opportunity to add or launch new brands.
