Options analysis software is extremely valuable for options traders because it helps you quickly visualize the risk and reward of any options strategy before you risk real money.
Most options tutorials show you how strategies perform at expiration, but that’s only the final state, and if you don’t hold until expiration, how do you know what your true exposure is?
In this video, I’ll walk you through the key features of the options analysis platform on projectoption.com. I’ll show you how to model your first trades, commit trades for logging and P/L tracking, make adjustments to your positions, and utilize the more advanced and powerful features.
The most powerful features on the platform include Adjustment Modeling, which allows you to compare “before and after” P/L curves of two positions, before and after you make an adjustment. This lets you see how a trade adjustment actually changes your risk profile.
Then we’ll look at the roll analyzers, which calculate the exact strike prices and expirations you can roll covered calls and short puts to for a credit. Normally you have to do this manually, but this tool makes all of the comparisons for you and makes it very easy to identify the best rolling adjustments for your position.
Lastly, we’ll look at the Covered Call and Cash-Secured Put analyzers, which scans the options chains in selected expirations and tells you the key metrics of every single strike price for your covered calls and short puts. This allows you to identify attractive options to sell based on the filters you set.
