Tesla’s new self-driving technology is a winner, but Elon Musk’s SolarCity shenanigans are offputting, said TheStreet’s Jim Cramer. Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that it would build its Model S, X and future Model 3 sedan vehicles with “the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver.” This is level 5 driverless technology, which means it won’t have a steering wheel or controls, taking away any option to take over the car. This new program is opposed to the partly self-driving program currently available in Tesla cars. Because autonomous vehicles are expected to cut back on car crash related deaths, Musk called out journalists for instilling fear in people about this new technology.
