Cheers! Wine lovers are flocking to the Big Apple this weekend for the Annual New York Wine Experience, which features more than 250 of the world’s top wineries. The most expensive pour is a Chateau Mouton-Rothschild Pauillac, which retails for $1,200 a bottle. Wineries from the U.S. and fifteen other countries are represented at the event, which kicked off Thursday night with about 3,000 people attending. Thomas Matthews, executive editor of event organizer Wine Spectator, isn’t surprised by how many oenophiles attend. “We’re a thirsty nation,” he said, pointing out the U.S. leads all countries in wine consumption. Wine Spectator’s annual event has raised more than $20 million dollars for charity.
