The Iron Condor options strategy allows traders to profit when the stock remains in a specific range over time, but there’s a lot to know about the strategy before trading it.
In this video, you’ll learn how selling iron condors (the short iron condor) works with examples using historical options data, so you can see when the strategy succeeds, and when it fails. I’ll also walk you through the key considerations when selecting a stock for trading iron condors, including liquidity, implied volatility, and strike selection.
We’ll look at ways to defend/adjust an iron condor position when the stock moves against you, like rolling the untested side, and closing the iron condor/resetting it to a new position. The option modeler on projectoption will help us visualize all of these decisions to determine the pros and cons of each approach.
