A customer has trashed the opening of a new Dunkin’ Donuts in South Los Angeles — which she refers to as “the hood” in a viral post — for its set up that doesn’t allow customers inside the building.

To order from the new doughnut spot at Manchester Boulevard and South Figueroa Street, customers must drive through or use a touch screen terminal and pick up their food and drinks from a service window. The store opened in early April.

“They want our money, but they don’t want us inside,” JustanLAgirl said in a video posted to TikTok on Thursday.

The influencer went on to promote a nearby coffee shop, South LA Cafe, that allows walk-in customers.

“Not only is the coffee better but they actually have indoor seating and it’s beautiful and it’s clean,” she adds.

But in the comments, TikTok users were quick to point out the new Dunkin’ Donuts is in a crime-plagued area.

“Do you blame them?” reads the most liked comment. While another adds, “i get what you mean but it’s literally fig and manchester. A more blunt assessor of the situation simply said: Because it’s dangerous.”

The new Dunkin’ sits on the border of two LAPD districts — 77th Street and South East LA — the 77th Street Division alone logged 10 homicides so far this year, accounting for roughly 14% of all 72 citywide murders, despite being a small neighborhood, per the most recent police crime data.

Robberies in the 77th Street area jumped nearly 39% in the most recent four-week period, while aggravated assaults surged 25% — bucking a citywide trend that has seen violent crime fall across Los Angeles.

The 77th Street and Southeast divisions account for roughly 17% of all violent crime across the entire city.

The California Post reached out to Dunkin’ Donuts for comment and is waiting to hear back.
