The media business is making its own news these days.
From the President declaring certain outlets “fake news” to Univision buying Gawker because of its ecommerce business, the industry is making big moves.
Thanks to the President, there was a “Trump bump,” in media, says TheStreet’s contributing columnist Ken Doctor. That then lead to a “subscription surge.” Companies like the New York Times saw subscriptions pass 3 million for the first time and the New Yorker’s subscriptions went up 230% in the last three months vs. the same period last year, says Doctor.
In addition, the Spanish American TV network Univision is betting that ecommerce may be the future of media.
