The European Court of Justice has been advised that Uber should be treated as a transportation company. The opinion stems from a case by the Asociacion Profesional Elite Taxi against Uber Spain. Elite Taxi argues Uber engages in unfair competition in Barcelona as it doesn’t have the licenses and authorizations required for taxi services. Though non-binding, the opinion could change how Uber is classified and governed in Europe.
