Martin Shkreli is the former CEO of the biotech firm Retrophin RTRX as well as the founder of Turing Pharmaceuticals AG.
He’s currently involved in a five-to-six week trial for being accused of defrauding investors of two hedge funds and is under federal investigation for eight counts of securities and wire fraud.
You might remember Shkreli after he increased the price of Daraprim, a pill geared towards those with HIV/AIDs, by nearly 5,000%.
The price of a pill went from $13.50 to $750.
“I’m so innocent, the jury, judge and the prosecution are gonna give me an apology,” he said in one of several live streams posted in the lead up to the trial. They have since been taken down.
