Instagram is limiting what teens can see. Sexual content, strong language, or references to drugs and alcohol? Gone.
Accounts linking to adult sites like OnlyFans or online liquor stores? Teens can’t follow them – and if they already do, they won’t see the content anymore.
Teens are automatically in the new 13+ setting, and parents can pick an even stricter option. For the first time, parents can also flag content they don’t want their teens seeing.
Meta says it’s using age-prediction tech too, so teens can’t bypass the rules.
The rollout starts today in the U.S., UK, Australia, and Canada.
