About 1% of its North American stores are shutting down… but 1,000 more are getting makeovers with cozier chairs, extra outlets, and warmer vibes.
It’s all part of a $1 billion ‘Back to Starbucks’ overhaul under CEO Brian Niccol.
It also includes 900 new layoffs, on top of 1,100 earlier this year.
Starbucks is battling a six-quarter U.S. sales slump, as customers cool on pricey lattes and rivals turn up the heat.
