The purported pitch from Lightning Shared Scooter Company, or LSSC, was simple. Invest in a scooter in Asia and make easy money. As people signed up to invest, they brought in friends and family. But the Better Business Bureau says it was all a ‘pyramid scheme’ and Americans across the country collectively lost millions. NBC News’ Anne Thompson reports.
