A happiness expert shares the clear signs it’s time to leave your job, and how to plan your exit the smart way.

JESSICA WEISS: I think that this is one of those instances where you’ll know it when you it’s one of those gut things, but there will be physical signs. You’ll be bored at work. You’ll be completely disinterested. You won’t care. There won’t be a project that’s exciting to you. And then as that wears on, the symptoms become more severe, because now we’re entering into a burnout type of situation. So you’re going to have headaches. It’s going to be depressing. Your mood is going to be significantly down. You’re going to be irritable and annoyed. All of those things are pointing to there is a problem at work. So what’s the exit strategy. Now that becomes dependent on each person. My biggest piece of advice, especially in this economy, is don’t leave your current job until you have a new job. But I think that all of those physical symptoms are certainly signs that something is off.
