ChatGPT has been the talk of the town ever since it has released. Developed by OpenAI, this chatbot has millions of users, whether researchers in the Artificial Intelligence domain or students. Built on the top of GPT 3.5 and GPT 4 foundational GPT Large Language Models, ChatGPT provides detailed responses to instructions in the form of prompts. It imitates humans by answering questions accurately, summarizing data, and generating content on almost every topic. After the release of ChatGPT, here comes Bard, a conversational generative AI chatbot developed by Google.
A Twitter thread has discussed the new Bard, highlighting ten powerful features that it offers that distinguish it from the famous ChatGPT.
- Internet Access: Bard provides quick answers based on real-time information from the internet. It has the ability to retrieve the latest data and provide up-to-date answers. It is free and fast in nature and allows users to obtain information without any waiting time. An example has been shared in the tweet, which shows how Bard provides accurate and recent figures upon asking about the amount of capital invested in AI in 2023.
- Plugins: Bard uses plugins to enhance prompts and increase productivity while accomplishing tasks efficiently. A few examples are – ordering groceries with Instacart, booking a reservation with OpenTable, planning a trip with Kayak, and so on. On the one hand, where ChatGPT’s plugin feature is waitlisted and not yet available, Bard can integrate with various services to streamline processes.
- Coding: Bard can assist with coding tasks by allowing users to write or explain code in simple terms. It can serve as a coding co-pilot, providing support and guidance during the development process. Bard can write detailed code for a simple putt-putt game with a proper explanation.
- Image Responses: Unlike ChatGPT, Bard can provide image responses directly within prompt results. When asked for information about must-see sites in New Orleans, Bard includes relevant images alongside its textual response, enhancing the visual experience.
- Image Search: Bard has the capability to process images as prompts. It can use images as inputs to generate responses or obtain information related to the images. The tweet shares an example where Bard generates some amazing captions when fed with a photograph of dogs.
- Export and Collaboration: Bard enables users to easily export generated content into documents or send it via Gmail. It allows users to extend their prompts with a “Google it” feature, which performs a web search and incorporates relevant information into the conversation.
- Website and Article Summary: Bard can provide summaries and answer questions about any website. It supports speed reading, facilitates quick learning, and simplifies complex topics. It also has the ability to format key points in a bulleted format.
- Multiple Drafts: Bard offers the feature of multiple drafts, allowing users to select from different versions of generated content. This enables users to pick and regenerate their favorite outputs, providing flexibility and control over the generated responses.
- Voice Prompting: Bard includes a unique feature for minimizing effort by allowing voice prompting. This feature is particularly useful on mobile devices, enabling users to interact with Bard through voice commands.
- SEO Companion: Bard can analyze websites to support keyword research, on/off-site optimization, and strategy for improving search engine rankings. By providing a website link, one can ask Bard to help improve the visibility and ranking of the website in search engines.
