CAROLINE WOODS: AMC is doubling down on deals to get more moviegoers back in theaters.
The chain is expanding its popular 50% off ticket offer from Tuesdays to Wednesdays too. That’s two days of half-price movies for AMC’s 36 million Stubs members.
And the savings don’t stop there—AMC is also slashing prices on snacks. Small popcorn and drink combos are now 50% off on both discount days.
CEO Adam Aron is calling it one of the company’s biggest pro-consumer moves in years, citing “overwhelmingly positive” guest feedback.
With streaming on the rise and moviegoing costs adding up, AMC is betting that deeper discounts can bring audiences back to the big screen.
The 2025 box office is now up over 14% year-to-date — and the summer movie season is up 15% compared to last year, according to Comscore. However, it’s still looking to get back to pre-pandemic levels. Earnings are down roughly 24% in 2025 compared to 2019 numbers.
