It’s the 7th film in Universal’s hit franchise.
Transcript:
It was a dino-sized box office debut! “Jurassic World Rebirth” stomped into theaters and crushed the competition, raking in $147 million over the 5-day, July 4th holiday weekend stretch.
The 7th film in Universal’s blockbuster franchise was only expected to rake in $135 million.
It left Apple and Warner Bros.’ racing thriller “F1” in the dust — that film dropped to number two, pulling in $26 million this weekend — down more than 50 percent from last week.
Third place went to “How to Train Your Dragon” with $9.7 million in its fourth weekend of release.
The strong showing is fueling Hollywood’s comeback after a sluggish start to the year. The 2025 box office is now up over 14% year-to-date — and the summer movie season is up 15% compared to last year, according to Comscore.
