North Face, Victoria’s Secret, and Harrods all suffered attacks in recent months.

Some of the world’s most notable retailers have undergone a host of cyberattacks in recent months. The attacks began in the U.K., with retailers Harrod’s, Mark & Spencer, and Co-op taking hits.
But recently the cyberattacks have hit U.S.-based companies. Victoria’s Secret was forced to shut down its website for three days and had to push back its quarterly earnings announcement. The North Face and Cartier both suffered attacks that allowed hackers to access customer information.
In an email to customers, North Face said, “Based on our investigation, we believe that the attacker previously gained access to your email address and password from another source (not from us) and then used those same credentials to access your account on our website.”
Some of the attacks are linked to hacker group Scattered Spider. Members of the group pretend to be company employees locked out of their corporate accounts. They then persuade actual employees to help them reset their passwords.
