The JPMorgan CEO also issued a warning over the Trump Administration’s “America First” policy.
Transcript:
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon isn’t holding back his thoughts on the Trump Administration’s tariff policy. In a letter to shareholders, Dimon said the widespread tariffs will raise prices, weaken the U.S. economy, and diminish how the rest of the world views the United States.
However Dimon also called into question President Trump’s “America First” agenda — saying, “America First is fine, as long as it doesn’t end up being America alone. If the Western world’s military and economic alliances were to fragment, America itself would inevitably weaken over time.”
The Trump White House has implemented sweeping tariffs on some of America’s closest trade partners. A new round of reciprocal tariffs, announced last week, added a 34% charge on goods coming to the U.S. from China, an additional 20% from those coming from the European Union., and 10% from the U.K.
