Here’s what all successful businesses have in common according to the Shark Tank star.

BARBARA CORCORAN: When I was first on Shark Tank, I was hesitant to speak up. I was the only female there. Hard to be heard. I thought, Oh, all these guys know a lot more than me. But I knew in short order that I knew people better than them. And if people and can judge people, that’s what the Shark Tank is all about. I lost all my money on great businesses that I judged improperly, and I made all my money on entrepreneurs that I love. If you love an entrepreneur and you think they’re capable of making it to the finish line, you put your money there. Don’t give a darn about what business they’re in, and I’ve always been one in those deals.
REBECCA MEZISTRANO: And so what advice do you have for young entrepreneurs?
BARBARA CORCORAN: Stick with it. If you’re no good at bouncing back up like a Jack in the Box when someone hits you on the head, you don’t have any business being in business for yourself. Entrepreneurship is nothing but anything more than jumping over a series of obstacles, and you have to have the faith in yourself that you can get to the finish line if you’ve got that in you. All the other traits are minor by comparison.
